Print Fan has Stopped working. [SOLVED]

Could use any advice on how to proceed.

Double checked the connectors with the manual, and it appears to be connected correctly . (red wire closest to the thermistor plug as the manual says

Double checked the G-code of the file thats printing, and the M106 command is in there. As far as i can tell it stopped working when I had the issue a week or so ago when the heatbed connector burned up. (which I solved by soldering the cables to the board)

Not sure if this would have affected the fan in any way. If anyone has any advice on what i should check next id appreciate it. (i have all the tools needed, multimeter etc, just a newbie!)

Hi Erron

First thing is to check the fan is working. Use a 9V battery and connect it with wires pushed into the connectors.

If the fan isn't working then you will need a replacement. eBay is good for this - search for "50mm radial fan". This is one item I have as spares as I do find that they can wear out quite quickly.

If it is working, then you may want to try swapping over the fan connectors; send the M106 S255 via Pronterface to see if the extruder fan starts, then heat up the extruder (only until it reaches about 80 degrees) to see if the part fan starts up.

Let us know the results.

Looks like indeed a dead fan.

No response to a 9v and no response when pluged into the extruder fan and heated up to 60C.

Looks like time to order one, and rig up some kinda print fan in the mean time 😛

If you order two or three then you will never have to change it again!

Found the culprit after disassembling the fan.

Looks like a broken solder connection. Went ahead and ordered replacement fans anyway... but i can probably fix this till they come in 😛

💡 It's always important to do the cable management as in the manual, it provides stress relief for all cables, so they shouldn't break. Glad to hear it was simple fix 😉
