I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK

Normally very simple. First layer must be good and bed must be clean. Some of the contaminants that affect bed adhesion are not visible so your bed may look perfect but could still be contaminated.

I use a strong detergent for cleaning the bed but I am in the minority. Pure Acetone seems to be the favorite.

My bed adhesion is amazing with PLA. Absolutely no chance of it coming loose during a print. I spent a lot of time getting the first layer dialed in and I am meticulous with the cleaning. Never ever touch the bed with your fingers either.

Thanks for the answers..:)

I will clean the bed (not the table) with aceton to begin with and check it out again... I got a i3 MK2 ready out of the box. If I want to print something from the SD card that came with the printer, lets say the tree frog is there any more I should do when it comes to adjustment?

The first line the printer writes on left near corner to begin with it is just perfect but as soon as it moves to the center i just want stick...

Re: PLA dont stick

yeah.... the little treefrog is the best thing to check if your 1st layer setting (live z-adjust value) is right.
when you did the setup using the v2calibration.gcode only, i'm not surprised that it doesn't stick.
have a look at this thread and follow the instructions to find the perfect 1st layer setting.

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...

Hi guys.

I am getting there... cleaned the bed with aceton.. used the calibration square (recommended thread) adjusted the Z axis live. The square looks ok, but the downside does not get the smooth flat surface, not enough negative z-axis i guess
but what about speed and flow ? If I am printing the tree frog from the bundled card. should I leave the flow and speed setting as defaulted or can that also help increasing the quality of the print?

Re: PLA dont stick

First Layer calibration is VERY important.

I also may have found a bug in the firmware compared to what the manual says, so I would suggest reading my post as that may help you nail down your first layer calibration.

If you have a set of vernier calipers to measure the thickness of the first layer when you calibrate then it makes it much easier to set up. If you don't have a set of calipers I would say get a set. Not to expensive. You will be able to get the first layer perfect if you have calipers.

Just so you know this is not a bug in the firmware, just wrong wording in the manual. It has been this way since the MK2 was released. Don't know why the manual hasn't been adjusted.

Thanks for correcting me... wasn't sure if it was a bug or the manual, so I shall call it a bug in the manual. 😆
