PINDA Calibration

I have a problem with the PINDA installation.

I have just damaged at my heating bed and I don't would like perform anymore 🙂

First of all I have align the probe with the nozle, on the same plain, after I have unscrew the PINDA for increase the distance between the nozle and the bed for permit the material exit.

Now the material extruded is good, but the PINDA sometimes scratch on the bed and remove the print.
if I increase the height of PINDA, the material not attach very well on the bed, and anyhow not solve the problem becouse the distance between the PINDA and bed made the same.

I have not understand What happen when I use the command "live adjust Z", this command can help me? It's possible that move only the nozzle? I don't have seen mechanical mechanism in that position.

It seems that the PINDA intervenes when it is already too near on the bed, it's possible increase that distance of intervention?

The probe should be about 0.75 to 1mm higher than the nozzle. You then use the "Live Z Adjust" according to the instructions to adjust the nozzle distance from the bed.

Re: PINDA Calibration

The problem is that (seems to me) when I use the "live adjust z" command not only the nozzle go down, but the whole body extruder, therefore the distance between PINDA and nozzle remains unchanged.

And anyway the PINDA scratch on the surface of the bed heated

Re: PINDA Calibration

That's why you should set the probe higher in its mount. Clean the nozzle, there must not be any remains of filament. Put a sheet of paper on bed (it will protect the bed against scratches while you adjust probe). Move the extruder all the way down until the nozzle touches paper. Measure gap between paper and the probe. Should be around 1mm. Actually my probe is even higher, around 2mm.

Re: PINDA Calibration

The Live Z-Adjust does move the whole x-carriage, the probe has to be moved by adjusting the two nuts holding it to the extruded 3D printed part.

First adjust the PINDA Probe to be about 0.5 - 1mm higher than the very tip of the nozzle, this avoids it hitting printed parts.
Then use the Live Z-Adjust to tell the printer how much you want the printing height adjusted as it prints.

So the probe should get the nozzle to within 1mm of the bed, then the Live Z-Adjust compensates that in software while printing to get the nozzle as close to the bed as it needs to be...

Re: PINDA Calibration

But if the PINDA will be 1mm to hight of the nozle, during the calibration of z axis the noble will be touch on the bed. This is not a problem?

Re: PINDA Calibration

OK, so try setting the probe 0.5mm higher than the nozzle.

Do a test. Move extruder so the probe is exactly above probing point, around 10mm high. While the probe is not triggered, you should see red light coming from top side of the probe (where the cable comes out). Manually move Z axis down (rotate lead screws of both Z motors by hand) until the red light is off. Measure triggering height and tell us.
Alternatively, detach the probe from extruder and test triggering height by hand, just hold it perpendicular to bed and move close to probing point until the red light goes off.
The probe should trigger few milimeters (at least one) above the bed.

The PINDA Probe should be triggering before the nozzle touches the bed... about 1.5mm-2mm above so the nozzle should not touch the bed, nor the end of the PINDA Probe.

If your PINDA Probe is touching the bed, it is either faulty or waaayy to low!

Re: PINDA Calibration

I have solved .

The problem was in my PINDA that give the contact open only came close to the bed , 0.1 mm more, or less.

I solved scratch the rubber part of the PINDA reducing the height .

Thanks to all for the precius advice in the allignment of PINDA
