Nozzle replacement problem

Hi all.
Today i wanted to replace my 0.4 bronze nozzle with a 0.4 hardened steel nozzle so that I can try to print with various abrasive materials, however, when i tried to unscrew the nozzle it seems to be stuck and (using the pliers included in the kit) I seem to have scraped of some of the bronze. I heated the nozzle to 200 degrees before trying to unscrew it.
What can I do to get the nozzle free? And is it a problem that the nozzle now looks scratched/damaged on the outside?

Regards
Joakim

Re: Nozzle replacement problem

Hi Joakim,

scratches are not a problem as long as they don't cross the nozzle area, the flat bit around the nozzle, presses the filament into position during extrusion.

I usually make sure that the old filament is unloaded then I use a 7mm socket on the nozzle and a big spanner on the heatblock, whilst the hot end is heated up.
twistint the socket whilst keeping the heat block steady to break the seal. there is usually a crack sound when it comes looose.

when re assembling, I put a small ammount of Coppaslip (copper loaded grease, onto the threads, before screwing the nozzle back in.

the waste grease from inside gets expelled at the beginning of the next filament load cycle.
regards Joan

I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK

Thank you for the reply. I will try this.

Re: Nozzle replacement problem

look here.

best tool to remove the nozzle (-> needs to be done when hot !) is a 7mm nut.

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...
