Nozzle crashing bed during z calibration
I am having issues with the nozzle crashing into the bed on the 4th and later points during the z axis calibration. After assembling the MK2S kit, i went through the setup steps as directed in the setup video narrated by Josef. Everything went well except I could not get the test print during the V2Calibration routine to to come out right. I determined that the nozzle was not close enough to the bed, but I could not get it closer using the live z adjustment. So, I decided to just quit for the evening (this occurred a couple days ago) and give it a go the next day. Well, yesterday I came back to the printer and the first thing I did was adjust the probe up ever so slightly and repeated the V2Calibration with the same results. So I adjusted it a little more and that is when I got the first crash. I then adjusted the probe back down to the location suggested in the setup guide. Now, when I run the z calibration everything goes well until the 4th calibration point (point on right, middle of the bed) and there, the nozzle crashes into the bed. I have checked the level of the nozzle across the entire bed manually using the move x,y,z axis and the nozzle remains the same distance from the bed so I do not believe that the bed is out of vertical alignment. And when I say crash, I mean crash. I don't mean it just moves the bed a little, it moves it several mm. The printer homes perfectly. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Re: Nozzle crashing bed during z calibration
I have found it was best to run the XYZ Calibration rather than just the Z Calibration whenever I moved my probe, maybe try running that first instead.
Re: Nozzle crashing bed during z calibration
Thanks for the suggestion William, but when I try the XYZ calibration the nozzle moves to the front center of the bed and starts moving back and forth(left to right) and eventually moves down into the bed and would probably continue all the way through the bed if I didn't cut the power off to the printer. I am at my wits end with this thing. I have tried everything I can think of and it continues to do the same thing. I wonder if I re-flashed the firmware if that would reset everything and I could simply start over???
Re: Nozzle crashing bed during z calibration
It sounds like your PINDA probe is too high. Have you set it approx 0.6mm higher than the nozzle tip? (That is about the thickness of a credit card.)

Re: Nozzle crashing bed during z calibration
Adjusted the PINDA using a hotel room key card and that seems to have fixed my problem. So far all calibrations have been successful, printed the PRUSA logo gcode on the SD card successfully and currently printing the tree frog. Thanks Aaron.
