no temperature listed for Extruder

I have broken the wire to the Extruder thermistor MK2 build.
replaced it with MK1 wires and thermistor bed records temp, but extruder stays at 29 degrees, but extruder heats up and smokes until I manually turn on Fan.

Re: no temperature listed for Extruder

Hi Gordon,

that sounds unusual,
my thermistor broke, and showed 11C at which point the extruder refused to heat, showing a MinTemp Warning.

you may have a different issue...

It sounds like your extruder is starting to hear, but not recording temperature change via the thermistor...

the smoke suggests that your heater bulb is overheating the extruder, which is not a good thing...

could you try disconnecting the thermistor from the rambo. and seeing what the extruder temperature shows...
if it still shows 29degrees C, then I suggest the problem is on the rambo, if it now shows about 11degrees C then there is a problem with the thermistor but it's not open circuit...
Best wishes,

Joan

Make sure you have it connected to the right thermistor port on the RAMBO. I made the same mistake recently and had the same problems.

I have temperature listed on Extruder after Reset and hardware update.
Now temperature starts in high 400's and slowly counts down........????
Where do I buy another Thermistor for this printer?

As Joan says try the E3D website for support. They are great. I have bought many products ie spare nozzles etc from them. Great service and support.
