New Bed Surface material??

Hi all
This is my first post, i own a couple of MK2s printers and i have found some differences between the fist and last.
One is the power unit printed base which in the latest unit is not printed any more but an injected piece ... this is just a comment as it doesn't change anything.
But all the printed parts show a different "finish" than the first printer ( i tried to get some information directly form Prusa with no luck) but they are definitely using something different on the print bed surface, may be a textured PEI sheet?

It would be great to know more as although the surface has texture (bumps) the first layer finish is great and i am sure it provides a great grip for ABS.

Yes, many of the 3D printed parts have a nice textured surface. I was also wondering how they did that 🙂 Want it too!

There are various threads here already discussing the possibilities and with more information.

Hi Peter

thanks for your reply.
I am sure that there are some other post regarding print bed juices, glues, etc. I was mainly referring to the fact that prusa is using something "secret" in their farm and as i couldnt find it in the forum i did this post! 😉

Yeah, there are a couple discussing this. I guess PR will release information more information when they are ready.

Anyone here have a direct line to Josef??? 😉 😉

Just a thought... It looks like an impression of the powder coated frame, but I really can't see Josef using aluminium sheet.

I thought exactly the same thing, it seems as if the print was done on a powder coated surface!

Well, Looks like Peter called it!! Powder coated sheet looks to be how they are getting the texture. I just wonder if you can get it smoother. While I like the idea of printing with that texture some of the time, I'm not convinced I want it all the time. Will have to see after things come out in a few months.
