My first Benchy!

Hi everyone,

I just finished building from the kit the MK2S. After lots of fine tuning I've finally (finally) got the XYZ calibration to pass all tests - hoorah!

I printed the V2 calibration and I've got that dialled in too.

Now on to printing the 3D Benchy torture test on the provided SD card. There are a few issues on the front of the Benchy and some 'stepping' as well. Not sure why that is?

Any advice would be much appreciated - thanks!

not really, the first layer is not as "smooth" as it should be. the strains of filament look "layed down" instead of squished.
but for a first attempt for dialing in the z live adjustment with the v2 calibration file, nobody could blame you for that.

have a look at this thread.
for the other issues: pid calibration for the hotend might help. furthermore have a look at the tension of the y- and x- belt and make sure that the filament runs "smooth" from the spool (without tangling and jerking).
and three other points: try to dial in the proper temperature for your filament, check the tension of the springs at the extruder and check your printer about over- or underextrusion (search the forum for the 10cm trick).

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...

thanks this is great advice. I checked the X and Y axis belts and there were a bit tight so adjusted them. It's printing better already. Adjusted the Z height as well to squish the first layer a bit. I'll take a look at the other topics you suggested.
