Moving Extruder Axis [SOLVED]

I just turned on my i3 for the first time and started testing it using the "Move Axis" option in the Prepare menu. I have not added any filament yet or headed anything up. I just testing the motors.

All motors are responding but not the extruder. Is this because of an electircal issue or must filament be in for it to work?

Thanks

Re: Moving Extruder Axis

Extruder needs to be heated up before allowing you to move E axis. This prevents the drive gear grinding a notch on the filament if the nozzle is cold.

TIP: I just use hand to manage the filament loading and unloading. It's much easier and you can feel if the filament goes all the way to the nozzle 😉
