Motor Noise

Hello

Dose any one know a way to reduce the noise that the motors make during printing, mine almost sound like they are grinding against something ( they are not), and make a horrible high pitched noise.

Thank You

Re: Motor Noise

Hmm I don't seem to have that problem and I have been printing constantly.
Is there a bind somewhere like the rods aren't parallel? The pulleys line up ok with the belt?
Just taking guesses here as to what might be causing it without the motors having an issue.

Good luck.

Re: Motor Noise

Hi

Try printing the anti-vibration feet from this page: http://www.prusa3d.com/prusa-i3-printable-parts/

It really is very surprising how much difference these make.

Re: Motor Noise

Hello

I do have the anti vibration feet in addition to the stuff that is used to insulate hardwood floors from creaking underneath the printer, and I have also replaced the bearings with IGUS plastic bearings ( http://www.igus.com/wpck/3599/drylin_r_rji_01 ) .

Thanks

Re: Motor Noise

Hi

I presume the motors were noisy before you changed the bearings? I have no experience with those, so I really con't comment of how they perform.

What motors are noisy? X, Y or both?

My Y motor was very noise without the vibration feet, but still noisier with. I have replaced that motor are now both X and Y are equally quiet, however, I do still have some high frequency rattling of the Y chassis when moving quickly in the Y axis.

Have you removed the belts to confirm the noise is coming from the motors? With the belts removed, can you turn the motors by hand - do they turn easily and is the movement smooth?
