Re: More Banding issues

I was having slight banding issues... it was most apparent when printing the sample Marvin using white PLA.

Upgrading to the 3.0.10 firmware and doing a proper PID tune solved it for me. Before the tuning my extruder temps would swing +/- 2 degrees and I guess the load from turning the heater on & off were causing the banding. Now that my temps are 100% stable I don't see the banding anymore.

This probably isn't your issue but if you are out of ideas try it...

Re: More Banding issues

By accident came across this tread.

You still chasing the issue?

I got some prints having some banding issues I guess, but maybe nitpicking.

This was the first print ( a tall one around 15cm) Might be able to improve a bit.
After this I corrected extruder steps so it extrudes 100mm when I tell it to instead of 940mm which it did before calibrating. Did not print as tall of an object yet, but seems good now.

If I read your post correctly you replaced almost everything you can, rods, clamps, bearings (?), holders etc.
But it printed fine before and you haven't changed anything? Did you check the GT2-16 pulleys are secured correctly to the motor shafts and are placed as mentioned in the manual? If they slip just by a fraction of a mm (and there are 4 of them) you get very bad precision on the layers.

I wonder if other people are willing to post some pics of there surfaces for comparison.

Re: More Banding issues

Sorry I failed to update this thread. It was a long drawn out issue and Prusa Support really helped on this, but they found an issue that was with the infill types in Slic3r. Basically, using anything other than Grid or triangles made this look worse as the infill would actually push the perimeters out.
I have gone on from there also to fine tune my settings. Acceleration speed for infill I have turned down to 1500, this allows for any belts being a little too loose and finally I have adjusted the amount of filament for different layers. I have spent a lot of hours and expect that these settings are good for only my machine but may help you get slightly better results

hope this helps some of you

Nick

Re: More Banding issues

I'm a absolutely newbie here (and with 3D printing). I assembled my i3 MK2 some weeks ago and did my first prints. Overall everything looked fine. Until i printed some flat surface objects and discovered these wobbles. These are not soooo significant, but not perfect and I think it could be better. So I discovered this thread and just wanted to know if you think my problem is "this" bending issue you're talking about here.

For example I printed the same object (see first two pictures) with different filaments. Yellow is Prusa, black is Janbex (both PLE). But the wobbles are almost at the same place. So this is more of a Z axis issue, isn't it? My printer settings are PLE default and my Slic3r settings are "0.2 mm normal", "Prusa PLA 1.75 mm", "Original Prusa i3 MK2 with ZHop".

Of course I read the whole discussion here, but as I said... I'm totally newbie and a little bit confused how to start now. What would be your first step to try to improve it? Thank you so much for all advices.

Yo, Have you tried Zeroing in your Extruders Steps Per MM? using the 100mm extrusion trick? I have been having problems just like that and after doing this along with many other things, i finally have a good looking print. the problem is still there. but its not NEAR as bad.

I think this answer was for me, wasn't it? Thank you very much for this advice. Indeed I never did this Zeroing of the Extruder Steps. It wasn't mentioned anywhere in the instructions/videos. Anyway... I just got the delivery-info for my MK2S upgrade-kit. So I will do it after the upgrade and will report about the quality when it's done.

Sounds like a plan :). Let me know how it goes. IF you have any issues finding good Information on the calibration process, just drop a line here. i check it 5 days a week.
