MK2 Kit Issues - Firmware and LCD

Hello!

I just finished building my MK2 today but have a couple problems.

I loaded the latest firmware (prusa3d_fw_3_0_10.zip) using the 1_75mm_MK2-RAMBo13a-E3Dv6full.hex file and the firmware update utility.
It uploads successfully, connects to computer successfully, however I cannot move the motors (using jog commands) and I don't get a response to M105 (just keeps sending).

Here's what I've tried:
- Compiling the latest firmware from GitHub and uploading through Arduino, same issue.
- Compiling fw 3.0.10 and uploading through Arduino (rather than using hex file as before), same issue.
- Compiling fw 3.0.8 and uploading through Arduino, same issue.
- Compiling fw 3.0.6 (which is apparently newer than 3.0.7?). This works!

Why does my printer only work with firmware 3.0.6 and earlier? I am using Rambo mini 1.3.

Also, no matter what firmware I try, the LCD does not power on. When I test it with my old RAMPS 1.4 board it works fine.
I have the LCD seen here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015NDAKE4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 .
Pressing the knob in on the controller makes it emit a continuous high pitched noise, and if I unplug it from the printer I get init_failed: SD card so it is detecting something.

Anyone know what might be causing these problems? Let me know if I left any other useful info out!

Thanks for the help!!!! 😀

Re: MK2 Kit Issues - Firmware and LCD

It seems as though you do not have a complete original Prusa i3 Mk2 purchased from Prusa Research or one of their resellers.

You will need to go to your printer supplier to ask as these forums are only for owners of printers purchased from PR.

I have a Prusa i3, and purchased the MK2 upgrade kit, so the LCD did not come with the upgrade kit.

All electronics other than my LCD are purchased from Prusa Research, am I still able to get help here?

Thanks

If you had a "stock" printer, then it would be no problem to assist.

With the mods you have, however much I really do want to help, I cannot be certain that any advices I give will not cause damage, and therefore I prefer not to, Hope you understand.

Hello again!

/**************************************

In case anyone has the same problem I did:
If you purchased a smart controller separately and it will not turn on, double check the connectors on the back of the controller. On mine the connectors on the board had been mounted upside down such that the correct connection of the ribbon cable did not work.

If this is the case, flipping the connectors on the Rambo end (as the one way connector could not be flipped) solved my issue.

Hope this help! 😀
