Minor printing errors
Hey,
I recently printed adalinda from the sd-card. It was one of my first prints after the successfull calibration. Sadly 2 errors occured. They are easily seen in the attached picture.
Can anyone tell me why this happened?
It seems like that the missing layer was printed on the back but not on the front.
Those small stretches are on both sides at the same layers but not exactly mirrored.
Maybe i should've used slic3r instead of printing the provided (possibly old(?)) files from the sd card?
Re: Minor printing errors
Here, I'll try a guess since nobody dared to jump in yet..
The gap isn't going all the way through so I don't think it was a glitch in Z-Axis movement. Doesn't look like a crack/split that happened at a later time. either.. Hmm.. The line on his hind legt looks a bit lumpy and then continues to print normally..
My guess would be it could have been a temporary underextrusion, perhaps caused by one of the following reasons:
1) the (crappy) original spool holder that sometimes creates too much friction for the filament to unspool properly. Print yourself a decent spool holder from Thingiverse
2) filament with uneven filament diameter. Go get some calipers and measure the diameter of your filament in various spots.
3) some other feed related issue (tangles?)
4) gunk in the nozzle.
Maybe this helps? I could be totally wrong though..
Re: Minor printing errors
I' ve already heard some reviewers complaining about the holders. Didn't think about them until now. But that would make sense. I'm going to print me some new ones and observe, if it happens again.
The filament is the original one shipped with the printer. I assumed it would come in a quite high quality but i'm going to measure it anyway.
Thank you for the advices! 🙂 Any help is welcome.
Re: Minor printing errors
I'm currently printing the spool holder. Is this supposed to happen when printing round objects? Could this be avoided by reducing the speed?
Re: Minor printing errors
Looks like the Z-Scar, printing slower should help. Playing with retraction settings should help too, but can be a time consuming effort.
