Mesh bed leveling failure

My printer is an original Prusa I3 MK2. My PEI layer got scraped up so I removed the bed and replaced the PEI layer. After putting things back together the mesh leveling fails.

This happens when doing the mesh leveling either directly from the menu or at the start of a print. It checks the first three points with no problem. After detecting the third point (front right) the print head lifts up and starts to move in the Y axis to find the next point. At that point the motor starts making the skipping grinding sound you get when when you do the Z calibration and push the print head all the way to the top. I then get the " Bed leveling failed. Sensor didn’t trigger. Debris on nozzle? Waiting for reset." error message.

The strange thing is that the printer has full range of movement. If I run the XYZ calibration it works fine, detects all 9 of the test points with no error or motor skipping. If I run the Z calibration it also runs fine and detects all points. Only when doing the mesh leveling or starting a print causes it to fail. I also made sure the frame is properly aligned and get the no X/Y skew message on the XYZ calibration.

Firmware 3.0.10 (I also tried rolling back to 3.0.9 and got the same thing.)

Re: Mesh bed leveling failure

Check that the Y axis pulley is about 2 to 3mm away from the motor body. If it's too close, you will get this issue.

You may need to move the pulley to the left and the motor to the right to maintain alignment.

Thanks for the advice Peter. That seems to have done it. It's now printing again.
