LCD & SD Card reader problems

(1) From time to time (really not very often) the LCD shows garbage but it always seems to return to 'normal'... I seem to find some occurrences of this in the forum but it is not clear to me if they are all related to the faulty/unfit batch of LCD controllers or if this just happens from time to time...

(2) One thing that does strike me is that the auto-scrolling on long filenames (from the SD Card) in reality makes the line impossible to read: it just becomes an impossible to read mess on the screen... Is this 'normal' ?

(3) The SD Card reader has stopped working. I have printed a number of items (see My First Prints thread) without any issues and then it just stopped. I have the same issues as described in some other thread: I insert a card, the display says 'Card inserted' but when I then want to use the menu to select something is says 'No SD card '... I read in one of the other threads that it could be due to unwanted (hidden) files/folders on the card but I removed those and it still does not work. Note that I'm using Windows 10 (and yes, I ensured the 'System Volume Information' folder is not present on the card). Both the card I received in the kit and my own card cannot be read. Problem is that while trying to test I added a file to the original card so I now have no 'reference' SD card anymore that should be guaranteed to work... I still cannot fully exclude software issues though... both cards are perfectly readable on my PC.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to try next?

Hi Gerg

I think with the problems you have noted, best thing to do is to contact support via "Live Chat" and give them a link to this thread. They should be able to assist you or at least get a message to Michal about the problems.

Re: LCD & SD Card reader problems

Regarding my point (3) I now have a card of my own that does seem to work. I read somewhere else on the forum that some people had issues with the microSD-to-SD adapter that was being used for the included card. This gave me the idea to search for a 'true' SD form factor card and indeed that works without any problems... Very strange indeed... Contacting support now.

Re: LCD & SD Card reader problems

No reply from support so far (it's been a week now). I'll contact them again.

Reader still only seems to work with the one (old) SD card I found.

LCD scrolling of long names is completely useless because if this happens the names actually becomes totally unreadable. I don't know, it seems like the LCD updates way too slowly (this is something I notice all the time).

Re: LCD & SD Card reader problems

Hello Gerg,

I really suggest that you send us some photos of your board and connections. sometimes the garbled text and SD issues are due to poor connections or over-tightening to the Y-frame.

The best way to resolve these types of issues is via the LiveChat help, or via email. We were unable to follow up your last message to us without your email, but I'm glad to have found you here. 🙂

Send us through photos to [email protected] along with your invoice number, and we'll get this sorted for you. We'll be able to send a new LCD with all the cables with UPS express shipping, should we need to. 🙂
