LCD doesn´t power on

Hey.
I just finished building the I3 and wanted to start it, but the LCD doesn´t power on. It makes a few "beep" noises sometimes but the screen is off. I checked all the cables and cannot find any wiring mistake. The RAMBo LEDs are green. When I plug the USB into my computer to install the firmare also the firmware updater doesn´t recognize the printer just showing me COM4. Though the printer shows a yellow LED when plugged into the computer. What can I do?

Re: LCD doesn´t power on

Hi Nils

The usual cause of this is incorrectly oriented insertion of the ribbon cable connectors on the RAMBo board.

Could you please possibly post photos of your ribbon cable connectors at both ends (where they attach to the RAMBo and the LCD boards).

Thanks

Peter

Yeah, on the RAMBo the locating lugs on the connectors should be towards the middle of the board. See this picture: https://d17kynu4zpq5hy.cloudfront.net/igi/prusa3d/UjFyyGJRAG4SipZ5

On the PC you need to load the correct drivers - drivers download here: http://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/

The only thing it can do now is it beeps loudly if I press the knob and it back light lit up , and stop beeping when I turn the knob. LCD or Rambo is dead on arrival?

The connectors on the rambo - they should have the locating lugs pointing towards the centre of the board.

Re: LCD doesn´t power on

Thanks Peter !!! You have saved me from my 1 day frustration of the not working electronics.

I think the manual should highlight the connector it in the picture 🙂 ..... The printer is alive !!! Yes !!!

Now calibration problems begin. I'll put my problem in the calibration section.

Zach

The photo I posted was from the manual (albeit the online version).
