Just recieved my MK2, 1st print attached!!

I was eagerly awaiting my MK2 kit, got it late yesterday and pulled an all nighter to get it (almost) perfectly tuned.

Damn the Prusa design team for making such a WONDERFUL machine!! My complements to the design team.
Very nicely organized kit. Perfectly logical. Using the printer is so much easier than my old closed cabinet style 3D printer.

Except for a several hour process of realigning the y-axis assy (get this RIGHT if you build one), the printer spit out a really nice martian!!

I just upgraded from a Flashforge Dreamer clone, worked good, but the MK2 is a different class of instrument. I really dig the access to the controls in the front, nice!

Only one very minor complaint was the Y-belt holder was printed with a defect that rendered the part unusable (there was a skip in the lower layer of the belt locking features and the posts immediately snapped off with very little force). I fired up the old Ultra printer and made a copy. Just some qual feedback provided here.

If you ask me, am I satisfied? Well ABSOLUTELY 100% (so far).

Highly recommended.

Your issue with the belt holder has been reported a couple of times, and I think it is more likely an instruction manual issue.

Tightening the belts according to the instructions is not ideal and stresses the pins which can then break off.

An alternative belt tightening method is to swivel the motor inwards after removing a screw or two, attach the belts (loosely) and swivel the motor back into place.

Peter,

Thanks for the tip, actually that was the process I chose to tighten my belts.

But pardon me for disagreeing with your statement regarding the manual. I too saw some damage reports on this forum prior to getting my kit, so I was very careful. The damage occurred slipping the first belt loop in place under near ZERO stress.

But it seems this part was not usable. It appears the outer perimeter was void or missing in this sensitive area (at the base of the pins and walls). Please see the photos for your reference. So the only structural element was the infill (looks like about 50%). So the lack of this feature resulted in a compromised part.

I provide this detailed feedback in the interest in only improving your remarkable product.

Please see the attached pics / vid.

Thanks again
Jim

Disagree with me as much as you like - I am usually wrong (or at least, that's what my missus telly me...).

Yeah, looking at your photos (which I could not previously view) there is definitely an issue with that layer.

Well i hope mine got no issues. I was ripping out my MK1 and upgrading it to MK2 now , so far so good apart from the X-axis parts is too tight.
I'm finishing the Z-axis and going to the electronics now. Hopefully i done have to use glues and tape anymore 🙂
