"Is color clear?" Filament Loading Issue!

I have built my kit and am loading the silver filament (supplied). The extruder will allow a considerable amount of filament to flow out the nozzle before a message appears on the LCD: "Is color clear?...Yes/No". The color is silver so I select "No". At this point, more filament pours onto the print bed. Then the same message appears. I select "No" and the printer continues the same process. Eventually I select "Yes", but I am afraid this will affect my prints.
Is anyone else getting this problem, and how do I correct it??

Thanks!

" is the colour clear " applies more to when you are using Color change to ensure purge so it does not ruin your layer with leftovers of the previous filament , if you have a flow of the same colour then you are ready to rock

(ie its not gonna turn see through no matter how hard you try :p)

exactly: "is color clear ?" simply means: was the filament change successful and does the color of the filament look's like its correct for the actual spool.

especially when you change colors, lets assume from red to white, you'll have some remainders inside the heatbeak/nozzle system that can dye your new color ....
refering to the example this would mean that the first few inches/centimetre of molten filament will look slightly pink... until - after a few "No" answers- it'll look as white as expected.

"clear" doesn't mean transparent in this case....

Yeah, this might be misleading. I was able to connect the dots regarding the fact it's a filament change, but then again it might be better to reword this to "is the color clean". What do you think?

Native English speakers should be able to propose the best wording.

I'm not a native English speaker but I think "clean" or "pure" would be better than "clear".

neither am i. but even in german the corresponding word "klar" could be interpreted in different ways.

"Is the previous filament purged?"
"Is the color correct?"
"Is extruding single color?"

I'm not sure if these would translate any clearer to other languages or to those with English as a second language.

I am a native English speaker, and I care about words. Of course others with the same qualifications may differ in their opinions, but my take is that "clear" is indeed confusing. "Consistent" would be a good word, but probably too long for the LCD. "Pure" is a pretty good choice for a short word -- I think it's less likely to lead one's mind in the wrong direction.

Also from Germany only here. 🙂 Thinking about it, maybe it should just state "Is the color as expected?".

Remember that there are so many different kinds of filament. Some might be multicolored or with glitter in there or whatever, so "uniform" or "unicolor" or similar wouldn't fit either.

Or 'Continue Purge?'

I don't see why it would need to ask anything other than if you want to purge more filament or not. Just my take on it.

Then you run into issues of newbies not knowing what "purge" is supposed to mean. So let's ignore that word and the meaning reverses: "Do I want to continue? Yes! Hey, what the §$&! are you doing?"

If you want to stick with "purge", you'd have to do something like "Repeat purge?" which is also vague, but IMO less misleading.

"Is new filament showing?" would cover filament change and newbie loading for first time.

Re: "Is color clear?" Filament Loading Issue!

Thanks for all the help everyone!

My initial thought was that somehow the printer was "sensing" or checking the color of the filament and that's why it was asking me if it was clear (transparent) - as if it could tell if there was a colored filament and could not detect transparent filament. This is my first printer so my curiosity claimed that anything was possible.

English is my first language, and yes, better diction might help. "Color OK?" or something of the sort would help, but "clear" can be misleading for us Americans lol
