How to re-attach the thermistor wires that have become separated

Assembling my new mk2s kit step 29 extruder cable management I noticed a floating black wire and a ragged material end of a wire from the thermistor. I thought I would check the other jointed wire from the the thermistor and bingo I now now have both sets of wires separated. 🙁 here is a picture of my debacle (In the picture I had already removed the first thermistor lead from the tie so I could get a better look: not that it helped).

I have not yet managed to remove the original heatshrink but I am guessing that it contains a metal joiner.
So my question is, what do I need to get to rejoin these wires?
Thank you in advance.... Tony

Decided to remove the heat shrink, noticed that the joint was soldered so I roughly soldered the connections. The wire from the thermistor sure is narrow! I also added a tie below the soldered joint to minimise any tension resulting from any future movement of the wires.

Yeah, soldering may work; just make sure the solder is nowhere near to the heater block.

Ah, just realised, this is the solder joint which replaces the original connector which caused so many problems for so many users (but strangely, not me). The ferrules are used to connect the thermistor's wires to extension cables.

Bigger picture next time, please!

Thanks for the advice Peter... and I will use a larger picture next time 🙂
Interestingly the failure point was not the joint but approximately 5mm above the joint in each case. This wire is easily broken when flexed and needs to be solidly anchored both above the joint (the current tie-off point) and additionally below the joint. As you have suggested a ferrule might have been wiser option.
