hot end cooling fan direction

Being new to 3D printing. A question.

Is the hot end little cooling fan supposed to blow hot air onto the PINDA probe when cooling the hot end?

That is what mine does and I am sure I have it all connected correctly.

The smaller fan is cooling the heat sink, which is attached via the heat break to the hot end. Some of the air also hits the PINDA probe after it went past the heat sink, but that is not the purpose. It should always spin when the extruder temp is above 49C.

The other fan (more accurately the 'impeller') at the front blows at the extruder and the freshly extruded plastic, so that it cools down quickly.

Thanks, it is going the right way then. I did mean the axial flow fan that blows across the heatsink.

:mrgreen: but regarding the cooling fan for the heatsink, the idea of reversing the air-flow orientation has its charm. 😀

💡 to cool down the heatsink it should be quite irrelevant whether you blow air into the extruder body, where the heatsink is located, or if you suck the air out through the extruder body, in direction of the x-motor end.

➡ but for our pinda probe it can make a huge difference, because heating up the pinda is not the best idea (especially when you want to perform the calibration procedure).
i think i'll give this idea a try.
