FW 2.2.1 Update
When I try to update the new Firmware 2.2.1 in my new Prusa i3 I get the following error:
avrdude.exe: AVR device initialized and ready to accept instructions Reading
| ################################################## |
100% 0.01s avrdude.exe: Device signature = 0x1e9801 avrdude.exe: reading input file "\Prusa3D\Utilities\175-RAMBo1-3a-en.hex" avrdude.exe: error opening \Prusa3D\Utilities\175-RAMBo1-3a-en.hex: No such file or directory avrdude.exe: input file \Prusa3D\Utilities\175-RAMBo1-3a-en.hex auto detected as invalid format avrdude.exe: can't open input file \Prusa3D\Utilities\175-RAMBo1-3a-en.hex: No such file or directory avrdude.exe: write to file '\Prusa3D\Utilities\175-RAMBo1-3a-en.hex' failed avrdude.exe done. Thank you.
Any hint of what should I do?
Thanks,
Juan
Re: FW 2.2.1 Update
Hi there
I have had this error a couple of times. All I do is to power cycle the printer and restart the updater. It works OK after that.
Just make sure the printer is powered on and plugged into a PC USB port directly - not a hub - then start the updater software.

Re: FW 2.2.1 Update
Thanks for the reply.
My printer is connected directly to the computer, not through an USB hub.
And I have turned the printer and the FirmWareUpdater off and on 10 times all with the same error....
The error seems to point to an invalid format in the HEX file but I guess that this can't be because then the file would be corrupted for everyone.
Any further suggestions?
Thanks,
Juan
Re: FW 2.2.1 Update
Hi Juan
Can you please create a new folder on the root of your C: drive - call it "Prusa" Copy the FirmwareUpdater.EXE file to that folder. Also copy the HEX file to the same folder.
Run the updater from that folder, selecting the HEX file, again from the same folder.

Re: FW 2.2.1 Update
Thanks Peter,
Done, 5 times, no luck...
The leds in the board blink when I hit update, so some kind of communication is taking place, but it doesn't update the firmware.
avrdude.exe: AVR device initialized and ready to accept instructions Reading | ################################################## | 100% 0.01s avrdude.exe: Device signature = 0x1e9801 avrdude.exe: reading input file "\Prusa\175-RAMBo1-3a-en.hex" avrdude.exe: error opening \Prusa\175-RAMBo1-3a-en.hex: No such file or directory avrdude.exe: input file \Prusa\175-RAMBo1-3a-en.hex auto detected as invalid format avrdude.exe: can't open input file \Prusa\175-RAMBo1-3a-en.hex: No such file or directory avrdude.exe: write to file '\Prusa\175-RAMBo1-3a-en.hex' failed avrdude.exe done. Re: FW 2.2.1 Update
OK, try downloading the firmware again. You could also try 2.2.0 just to check out the comms.
If that doesn't work, then you will have to contact support via the shop pages/live chat; give then a link to this thread and see if they can help.

Re: FW 2.2.1 Update
DONE and Working!
The trick was to have the software in C:\Prusa instead of D:\Prusa.
It seems that the software is very picky about the path: no spaces (so it doesn't work in the default path "C:\ Program Files" or "C:\ Archivos de Programa" in spanish) and it has to be in the C: drive...
Thanks very much for your help Peter!
Best regards,
Juan
