First layer malformed
Hi everyone!
I mounted my i3 MK2S kit without any issues and started to print small object to be familiar with the process.
I also tried to print object via the pronterface software with model that i found on thingiverse and everything goes well.
But since a few days ago, every time I try to print something, the first layer is completely corrupted and the printing fails.
At the beginning the first layer was not sticking the bed, resulting by the object being pushed off the bed mid print.
Now it seems that the nozzle missed some coordinates and misdraw the desired shape, especially in corners. (see picture attached)
with the Batman we got both problems.
So to be sure, I re-run the calibration routine from the beginning and get a proper result with the file V2calibration.gcode, the pattern is complete without missing steps.
I'm asking help because I couldn't find an solution on the web and I don't understand why every models I load it's corrupted even if my calibration is good.

once more: live z adjustment for the first layer is not right.
have a look at this thread, read at least the first 5 sites and follow the instructions/recommendations to dial in the perfect value for your assembly.
ah, and in case of the mk2s make sure that the p.i.n.d.a. probe is assembled secure, so that it can't move anymore, even if you try to push it up- or downwards by hand.
maybe you need to wrap a layer of duct tape around the threads of the probe before fixing it inside the new pinda holder (which is, in my eyes, a bad design).

I'll check the thread you gave me and verify my Z calibration.
I asked here because during the live Z ajustement with V2Calibration.gcode file I obtain a perfect zig-zag pattern. I though it was odd that I got a good calibration but not a good print.
One more question, when I ran the XYZ calibration routine, at the end, I got Two messages.
First : "XYZ calibration compromised. Left front calibration point not reachable."
So I clicked the knob to move forward in the procedure and I got the second message right after :
"XYZ calibration all right. X/Y axes are slightly skewed but it will corrected automatically". (something like that)
maybe it could be a clue to solve my problem??

It sounds like you need to adjust your PINDA probe height.
If that does not help, please comment back here and we can see what we can figure out.

Hi guys!! I'm coming with updates!
So thanks to aaron's post : I re calibrated the axes and the PINDA probe. (see picture of the probe below)
I still have the double message, tho.
Then, thanks to Jeff's post I live adjust the Z until I reached -0.675mm.
Here is the of my live Z calibration :
For me it seems to be good comparing with the pictures on your post Jeff, and I'm a bit afraid to damaged the bed going to down.
In order to verify, I printed the batman provided in the SD card.
Here is the result :

What do you think ?? Should I continue to lower the Z or is it good enough ??

looks as if you'd followed my instructions commendable. 😛
do you have the chance to measure the thickness of the sheets (with a digital vernier calliper or micrometre) ?
should be 0.20 mm (+/- 0.02 mm).
if you lower the nozzle to much, you'll notice that the surface goes rough and dim then.
and the thickness rises again before it stops extruding.
just make sure that your pinda doesn't move inside the holder any more. personally I prefer the old design of the pinda holder.

Yes! 😀 You're instructions are very clear and give more information about live Z adjustment than the official procedure. It should be include in the prusa manual IMHO.
About measuring my prints, I order a digital vernier calliper, it'll arrive this week, I'll let you know about it.

you won't regret it, and nowadays they are very affordable.
it's a useful measuring tool when you do 3d printing. sometimes you need to adjust the size of a printed object by a few %... or you need to measure the real diameter of a hole that should be x.y mm etc. .
by the way, I mentioned the commendable following of the thread with a twinkle of an eye: because girls/women tend to read instructions (and manuals), while boys/men usually just start doing things and read afterwards (at least sometimes).
