Filament Cleaner / Oiler - Is it needed?

Been running my Original Prusa i3 for about 4 months. Haven't had any issues with clogging or blockages. I keep all my filament (majority PLA) in Samla boxes with silica gel boxes to keep them dry.

I've seen a number of filament cleaners with sponges and recommendations for using various oils to clean / lubricate filament on the way to the printer.

I was wondering if that is really necessary or if it is something I should consider doing in the future?

Seems the lubricate is mostly focused on making Bowden feeders flow better, but wanted to see if anyone has any experience or recommendations.

Thanks.

I have see these in use with other printers, but I have no need to install any such device on the Mk1 or Mk2.. My printers are running 24/7 are are producing exceedingly good prints continuously - the only time I have a problem is when I make a mistake...

To assist with the filament feed, I did include roller bearings on the spool holders, although it was working fine before.
