Extrusion and fan not working
Just recently was able to put together my printer I got back in December. Updated to the latest software. I did get to the preheat step and noticed the extruder was not heating at all, just stayed at 27 degrees. Also the fan does not turn on either(tested using method shown in video). The heatbed works fine.
I am fairly certain I have everything plugged in correctly. Anybody have any idea what could be wrong? I can get pictures up tomorrow.
Really want to get this thing to work 😥
Re: Extrusion and fan not working
Hi Brandon
The extruder is not working and the part fan or extruder fan?
The extruder fan will not work until the extruder is above 50 degrees.
The part fan will not work until it is switched on (and this has caught out a few people before) - using the LCD menu, you have to select the fan speed and then press the knob to set the selected speed. If this does not work, test the fan with a 9 Volt battery and let us know the outcome.
Back to the extruder... Unplug the extruder connector on the RAMBo board and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the screws on the plug. Please again let us know the resistance measured.

Re: Extrusion and fan not working
I am having the same issue:
I just built the kit I received 2016.03.18 - extruder fan is not turning on while I try to print. Starts to print OK, than after about 6mm of height on the frog or Marvin from the supplied SD card, no more filament comes out although the stepper for the filament appears to be working. This is the extruder fan not the part fan.
The display indicates:
(Temp) 210/210deg. and never changes.
(H) 50deg/50deg. When it says 51/deg/50 deg fan still not on.
The fan is at value 255 on the display while printing - still not working when I try to make a part.
While I am trying to print I go to tune: fan speed is at 255 and I can change it but nothing happens with the fan - it still will not come on.
I put a piece of filament on the extruder head it starts to melt - this tells me the extruder heat is still on. (or at least residue heat)
I change to a higher heat while printing 214 then after 214is reached I change back to 210 and resume print - fan still does not come on.
Another odd this is that while I print - if I pause the print when the filament stops coming out of the extruder - unload and reload it works good again for the next few mm in part height then the filament stops again. As if the extruder stops heating (from over temp because the fan is not working?) and the filament can not longer get pressed through. I have adjusted the filament tension against the stepper to make sure the stepper is not loosing steps from being too tight (clicking sound) or too lose that it does not feed.
While all this is happening the screen temp is always at 210/210 except when I change the temp on the tune screen.
I'm completely puzzled at this point. . .

If the extruder fan is not working then I would expect too much heat going back up the extruder and potentially causing print issues.
Can you firstly check the extruder fan is connected correctly onto the RAMBo. Remove the connector and with a couple of wires, connect the fan connector to a 9 Volt battery.
Let us know the results of this test.

Re: Extrusion and fan not working
Ok I did the 9v battery check - seems I had the wrong fan in the wrong port on the Rambo. Made a 50|% scale of Marvin - worked out great! Now trying the tree frog again... will let you know if its fixed in about 3 hrs 😆

Hi Ryan
Thanks for the feedback; hopefully it will now be perfect!
