extruder motor keeps slipping
I just assembled my Prusa i3 and everything seems to be working fine except that while extruding the extruder motor will slip and stop extruding properly. I thought i might be extruding too rapidly so i tried using pronterface to slow down the extrusion to 20 mm/min and it was still slipping?? did i assemble the extruder in correctly?
Re: extruder motor keeps slipping
Did you connect the extruder fan correctly? It should start to spin when the nozzle reaches 50°C.
Re: extruder motor keeps slipping
yes, the extruder fan is working correctly as well. turns on at any temperature above 50 and turns off at any temperature below
Re: extruder motor keeps slipping
On further inspection it seems that the part that holds the fan onto the hotend is melted, could this be inhibiting the fans ability to perform? and any idea how to remove the melted piece from the hotend and fix it? 😳 😕
Re: extruder motor keeps slipping
function fan is necessary for work.
When you finisch printing, extruder is hot. Don´t plug it off from elektricity - you must wait until the fan stops = extruder is under 50C
Re: extruder motor keeps slipping
Did you have the fan attached at the very top of the nozzle like in the manual? http://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/5.+Extruder/17 see step 19
Simplest was is to heat the nozzle and remove it. But the holder wont be functioning anymore I guess. You can print a new one or simply attach the fan with zipties.
What material were you printing and had problems with?
Re: extruder motor keeps slipping
No it seems i made a fatal mistake! i used the zipties, and the printer was extruding fine ready for calibration! However the holder was melted beyond use, so now i will have to print a new one. I was using ABS thank you for your help
