Err: MINTEMP [SOLVED]
I was able to finish the assembly but I had a quite unfortunate incident in calibration step #2. I started waiting for 10 minutes as specified in the documentation (pre-heating section) @ http://prusa3d.dozuki.com/Guide/Calibrate+i3+Plus+LCD-SD/4 but after approx. 8 minutes, a huge amount of smoke came from the nozzle cap. I immediately pulled the plug and disconnected but the nozzle cap (3d printed piece) and the fan was melt.
I contacted the team and they sent me a replacement set of fan and fan holder immediately.
As soon as I received the replacement fan and fan mount I replaced it by following the instructions once again. However now, I get the following message on the screen: "Err: MINTEMP" and nothing seems working (i.e. not heating) (Please see the attached image for reference)
I have triple checked all connections but no luck 🙁 I suspect there's something wrong with the board itself. What do you think?
Re: Err: MINTEMP
Hi, your thermistor is not properly connected (Nozzle temperature shows 0°C) and that triggers this fail safe function. Recheck the connection and reset the printer and you should be fine.
Re: Err: MINTEMP
Hello Josef,
Thanks for your reply here but unfortunately that did not solve my problem at all.
I checked all of the connections, even started from scratch several times, and I've just re-checked the thermistor connection you mentioned; everything is 100% correct but still I get the same error message 🙁
I suspect there's something wrong with either the heater / thermistor or the board itself.
Kind regards,
Re: Err: MINTEMP
To sum this up for future readers of this topic, after few follow up emails, we diagnosed that hotend thermistor is not working correctly in this case (see the 0°C temp reading on LCD panel) and that triggers failsafe MINTEMP until the problem is fixed. You can verify that the problem is caused by thermistor by connecting the heatbed thermistor to the hotend thermistor socket.
Re: Err: MINTEMP [SOLVED]
I had the same problem and found one of the thermistor wires from the extruder head had come out of it's crip-join. This was hidden under the orange heat-proof tape. Re-crimped with some replacement shrink tube, about to retest.
Re: Err: MINTEMP [SOLVED]
Hi,
I'm having a MINTEMP error, but its not because of a bad connection. My readout is showing a temp of 15 degrees standard. When I switch the heatbed thermistor in I get the same values, so I know the connections are functional.
Does this mean my hotend isn't receiving enough power?
When I unplug the hotend power and run the self test it says everything is okay, which doesnt make sense to me.
Separate issues, but maybe related: When I start up the machine I get a jumbled up display of random characters. Also, it is impossible to do a hard reset. I followed the instructions until I heard the double beep, but then it skips over the language selection and goes straight to the main screen.
lots of confusion...

No, nothing like the same issue. The printer will not turn on (MINTEMP error) below 16 degrees. Try heating things up with a hair dryer (specifically, the hot end thermistor).

Re: Err: MINTEMP [SOLVED]
Ok so i have checked my connection and one of the wire are lose. Where does this wire go? Can you post a picture or diagram on where i should attach this wire?
Re: Err: MINTEMP [SOLVED]
I had the same Err message, but in my case everything was connected. I moved my prusa in the garage where it was really cold. I heated up my prusa with headgun the bed and the area whit the thermistor. It worked! 😀
Re: Err: MINTEMP [SOLVED]
I had the same presentation of issues: Jumbled characters on screen at start-up, followed by ERR:MINTEMP on bottom line of screen.
I carefully heated the thermistor and hot-end with a heat gun, and now it's working fine. The temperature in the room where I keep the printer had been unusually cold, perhaps 50°F (10°C). Lesson learned.
Re: Err: MINTEMP [SOLVED]
Hi,
I have the same problem but my thermistor cable is broken. Do anyone know which cable is used in Prusa mk2s and where can I get one?

Is there a place to get a replacement temp sensor for the print head?
Re: Err: MINTEMP [SOLVED]
in the USA I use printedsolid.com for prusa spare parts. in the UK you can go to https://e3d-online.com/
