Drylin bearings staying Dry
Hello,
yes, the pun in the title is intended. I am facing bad lubrication on the smoothrods with DryLin bearings. I was expecting them to be self-lubricating but from time to time I have to re-lube the smooth rods to make them move smoothly.
Is there some kind of lube I should use?
Re: Drylin bearings staying Dry
did you use only DryLins at the stainless steel rods, or do you use DriveLin rods as well ?
dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...
Re: Drylin bearings staying Dry
DryLin bearings on the original rods. The aluminum cased RJZM 8 millimeter ones. They don't have linear grooves in them, only 2 circular grooves parallel to the begin and end of the bearing.
Re: Drylin bearings staying Dry
Sounds like your rods/components are misaligned.
Also sounds like you might have compromised your bearings by putting lubrication on them.

Everything was perfectly aligned. Without any lubrication, axis would literally get stuck. Noticed it right after assembly.
Re: Drylin bearings staying Dry
Please describe the conditions under which a bearing, which by itself probably slides easily and freely on a rod, manages to get stuck under an installed context.
Re: Drylin bearings staying Dry
I would guess default rods and the polymer bearing might not be compatible? It is a minimal tolerance compressed aluminum encased bearing.
Re: Drylin bearings staying Dry
I use also the silver Drylin bearings and teflon spray for lubrication. I use something like this: Teflon Spray (GERMAN)
And the bearings are realy smooth for mor then 200h printing time.

Tim

Thanks! I will definitely try this!
I wonder if the silicone oil and later on "high pressure bearing oil" might have ruined them..? 😳
