Clogged Extruder, Filament Stuck in Extruder Body
A while ago my printer failed in the middle of a simple print, stopped extruding filament, and made weird clicking noises when I tried the "Change filament" option. Since I couldn't get the filament to come out either end I decided to disassemble the extruder assembly (see attached images). The problematic filament broke when I removed the extruder body, but there's still some left inside the extruder body. Will this come out if I reassemble the extruder as is and run the printer? Or is there possibly a clog within the extruder body that caused this whole thing? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just don't want to waste the time reassembling if I'm going to have to take it apart again 🙄

Is that actually a chip out of the filament I'm seeing? I also see the diameter being larger to the right as it enters the orange assembly piece. Sorry I don't know the name of the parts yet. I am good at observations and theory.
Is that the filament that shiped with the printer or something else that you purchased?

The "chip" in the filament is from the extruder gear chewing through the plastic when it got stuck. It's pretty common when things jam.

No, that's not the underlying issue. Something else caused the filament to jam. When the extruder gear tries to push filament that's stuck and won't move, the eventual result is that the extruder gear chews through the filament leaving a bite mark like you saw. But the bite mark is a symptom, not a cause.

I'm having exactly the same thing on my printer.
