Can you print PLA onto PETG as a separate layer?

Pretty much what the topic says: Can you mix materials like that? Not the usual PVA for supports, but layers of PLA and PETG on each other?

I tried this once. I found that they don't stick to each other. This could potentially be useful but in my case, they separated really easily making the piece useless.

Same here, despite reading the generic response that they do not bond, I wanted to see to what extent.

Not 100% sure because I have not tried, but I suspect done correctly, it might be possible to print a solid support in one material, and then a structure on top of that in the other material and have a perfect way to smoothly print strange bottom contours and bridging features, that might not otherwise be possible, and have the support come away without bonding to the support yet keeping very high tolerances.

I once used a layer of PETG to get the nylon filament sticking at the printbed, which worked quite well.
in fact it was really tough to separate the PETG layer afterwards.

I recently printed some PLA into an PETG object tu use another coler in an embossment. It turned out well. Also the PETG printed letters ontop of the PLA look good. However, I didn't put the piece under mechanical stress. :-/

I'm constantly using petg first "raft" layer and then polycarbonate items on top.
