It is the strangest thing ever. When i use any of the files from things i verse, it will not print properly not sure why. The brim perimeter for the thing i verse files are not sticking to the bed and it automatically set its temperature to 200. and all prints are spoilt.

When i use the sample files, it print impressively well. I'm wondering why it set it temperature to 200 automatically although I've set the preheat to 210. When i use the sample codes it set itself back to 210 automatically.

some secret settings?

I don't know what you are doing here. You need to download an STL file from Thingiverse, load it into a slicer, create a GCode file and then either print that from Pronterface or copy it to the SD card and print from there.

Regarding the temperature, that is set in the slicer. PLA prints OK at a temperature range of 185 to 210 degrees, but the temperature would be chosen according to the type and colour of the filament and the model you are printing.

Unfortunately, 3D printing is not yet a "press a button" process...

There are advantages with printing directly from the PC (ie Pronterface) and likewise with SD printing. Many of us here use a third option (Octoprint) as it brings together the best of both.

So, in summary, you download (or create) an STL 3d model file, you create a GCode file which contains printer commands using a Slicer program (such as Slic3r, Cura, KISSlicer etc) and you then move the GCode file into the printer (Pronterface or SD card).

The GCode files supplied on the SD card have already been sliced by Prusa Research and should be used as test files if you have issues in future.

Well ur advise really helps. I'm kind of new in 3D printing. Finally know that I need to set the nozzle temperature in the slicer cause the default file when loaded into Pronterface is only at 200 , might be for some other filament.
After I've loaded into the slicer and generated the Gcode, the print is perfect.

My only problem is I cannot print directly from SD card and have to leave my laptop connected all the time with Pronterface. I've tried loaded my Gcode in the SD card and the LCD stated sD card inserted, but the LCD got no option to print the file inside the card.

I don't use the SD card print (Octoprint user...), so I may not be able to help very much.

So what you have to do is to slice an STL file to create a GCode file on your computer's hard disk drive. Then you have to plug the SD card into a USB card reader and transfer the GCode file from the PC's HDD to the SD card and remove the SD card (don't forget to use the "safe removal").

With the printer turned on, plug the SD card into the printer. A "Card Inserted" message should be displayed. You should then be able to to select the sliced GCode file using the LCD menu options.

Do not attempt to copy a GCode file to the SD card while it is still in the printer. This is possible, but can take a very long time.

I totally agree that it is better not to print from the PS and there are many reasons for that, but printing from the SD card is also a pain in the ass. It really is well worth having a look at Octoprint.

Hmmm ... Octoprint huh? Well I just need to make sure the electronics supplied is in good condition. If the SD reader is not working , it's a sign of something has failed and I hope PRUSA could send a replacement. I'll buy another set of cables to try and also use another SD card to see if those are the causes to this problem.

My print finished overnight, so I had a look at the SD card menu options.

With printer turned on, I inserted a card - "Card Inserted" message
Pressed the knob and selected "Print from SD card"
The menu showed "Main" as your did and then it listed the GCode files contained on the SD card, whereas yours simply displayed "Card OK"

I think we had a user several months ago with the same error and that turned out to be a faulty SD card reader on the PC.

Are you using the SD card which came with the printer? When you put the SD card into your PC, do you see any files on it?

There is a possibility that the card and/or printer card reader is faulty, so this will be a step by step process to determine where the problem is.

It may be easier for you to contact support (use the "live chat" facility on the shop pages and give them a link to this thread.

You have been a great helper, it's the card provided with the kit is dead. And the one that I had could not be read by the printer. So I bought a new one from Toshiba and it is printing with the new SD card.
I'm getting a replacement from Greyson when I'm ordering more filaments from them.

Hi,

I had a kind of similar issue (no files listed, or scrambled file names). After switching the LCD and SD card ribbon on both side, the issue was fixed.

It's only recently that I understood the root cause of this. While assembling the Rambo box, one of the ribbon just went in the gap between the aluminium frame and the Rambo box. When I gave the final screw to finalize the assembly, I damage on wire of the ribbon.

You may have the same adventure. Probably switching both LCD/SD Card ribbon (both side !) could indicate if the issue is a damaged ribbon.

I JUST ran into this issue last night. Card inserted says its inserted but says No SD Card in the 2nd menu and files are no where to be found, despite printing out like 5 min earlier.

Tried everything but swapping the cables and the tinfoil around the various wires to see if interference is the culprit (though i don't expect that much of a solution with the tinfoil) (will make those attempts tonight)

I have a email out to Jakub to see if I can get a replacement head unit or some other solution since I need to get the thing going to finish out the christmas gifts. Well have to wait and SEE!

I really don't like to print from a usb connection and computer direct.

On a side note, is anyone else experiencing this when you unplug and power off the i3 and then move the bed back and forth the LCD lights up for a bit? Just curious.

Ok, here is the kicker. What started this all last night was while transferring the SD card back and forth from computer to printer the lock on the sd card kept slipping down and i would put in it my computer reader and it would say it was locked, so annoyed at this happening all to often i took off the little grey piece of plastic on the adapter. I tried to tape the card to be"unlock" position but the reader in my computer kept saying it was locked. so i threw the adapter in the trash! I put the sd card in another adapter which i had three or four of them and EACH one ended up with the NO SD Card error... I even tried a few other non adapter sd card (i have a dslr) and still nothing, so i did the cable swap, nope didn't work.

so fed up i dug the original adaptor out of trash put the sd card in and.... BOOM sd card found files there printing commencing.

yay!

but now the question I have is, WTF is the deal with the card reader? I tried three adaptors a micro that fit in a min that fittt in an sd, two other micro to sd, i tried a 2gb card, a 8gb card a 16gb card, classes ranging from 4 to 10! Am i stuck with the adapter sent???

I really need to know how to correct this or find other identical adaptors stat.

(i also have a flash air but not sure if thatll just make the issue if it works at all...

Check if all the other SD cards work now, too. I bet they all work again, not just the one in the original adapter.

Some interference in the data cables is the most likely culprit, at least that's what my experience is.

I'd try aluminium foil around the data cables.

After building my printer from a kit when I inserted the SD card the display would indicate that it was installed but didn't show any files. After tinkering with it I found that fully inserting the SD card was the problem. If I pulled back on it slightly it started to function properly and all files were readable. In my case I believe it is a mechanical defect problem with the SD connector on the display board. It was not
damaged during assembly.
