Calibration Cube Issue

Hi Folks,

Brand new MK2S owner here, built the kit with much success but I am having a small issue with the calibration cube. What's causing the two lines across the cube? Used the PRUSA Slic3r, with 30% infill at 0.1mm.

Also, how's the print quality overall? How's the 1st layer looking? Still new to this, so don't know what to look for. Thanks for the help!

Re: Calibration Cube Issue

To me, it looks like the first layer is a bit to smushed - try using live adjust Z to raise it up a bit. The horizontal lines could be that you need a bit more tension on the extruder and/or the spool is binding or something else is putting too much tension on the filament.

Funny you said that! I've been struggling with both those items! I raised the live Z up about 0.2 (now at -.0780) and released some of the tension on the filament screws and got this.

Bands are mostly gone, but the bottom still looks off. I suspect this has to do with ambient temp actually and the need to run a calibrate Z before each print. I print in a garage and it's fairly warm in the day, but cooler at night. So a Z cal at night doesn't seem to carry over to a day time Z cal and visa versa.

I know that it does an auto z cal before each print, but it seems that going into settings and doing a manual one is the fix. Tried running some small prints and the bottom layer looked similar to the photo, redid the z cal, reprint and it's perfect. Interesting.

Here's the semi "proof" only difference from the cube bottom layer is doing a z cal from settings. Seems pretty dialed in, but let me know!
