Broken 25mm Cooling Fan Replacement
I broke the 25mm fan used for cooling the hot end by accident (got a little bit too close and one of the blades broke). Does anybody know a good source for a replacement?
Thanks!
Re: Broken 25mm Cooling Fan Replacement
Hi Basilio,
Apparently 25 mm is not very common.
First thing I would try is to contact Prusa support on the website chat, maybe they can sell you a spare (it's not on the part list on the PR website) or tell you where you could buy it ?
I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.
Re: Broken 25mm Cooling Fan Replacement
Actually, the replacement fan would be 30x30x10 mm in either 12v or 24v depending on your location. These are available on Amazon, e3d-online, Newegg, etc.
Re: Broken 25mm Cooling Fan Replacement
It's the 12V version (irrespective of your location) available here: http://e3d-online.com/Electrical/Fans/30x30x10mm-12v-DC-Fan

Re: Broken 25mm Cooling Fan Replacement
That makes alot more sense! I was measuring hole to hole by accident. No wonder I couldn't find anything. Thank you guys!
After looking around a bit, I found this fan: http://www.amazon.com/Gdstime-Blades-30x30x10mm-Brushless-Cooling/dp/B00MYZA6HG/
Any particular brand you guys recommend for fans that last a while?

I have 2 of those exact ones being delivered by UPS today. I have one in use now as I did the same thing you did and broke one of the fins off the supplied fan. It never hurts to have extras!
Re: Broken 25mm Cooling Fan Replacement
The only issue with those fans is the short cable, hence why I prefer to buy from the suppliers of the original equipment...

While I don't disagree sometimes the original supplier doesn't offer them. None listed on Prusa's site. Splicing the replacement onto the original cable is easy enough.

Apologies for not making myself clear in the recent post. As these fans are originally supplied by E3D, that is where I buy them and they are supplied with 1 metre leads (see my earlier post higher up...).

Re: Broken 25mm Cooling Fan Replacement
Your not alone! Me too 😛 was replacing the PTFE liner, and was impatient and started removing the extruder assembly before the fan stopped spinning, of course my hex wrench hit the fan and broke a blade,
I went ahead and ordered a whole new hotend kit from Matterhackers, as i needed a new Heaterblock anyway (somehow managed to strip the threads changing a nozzle 😛 )
And the whole kit (which includes a new cooling fan) was cheaper than ordering the fan and block seperatly.
