1st layer problems

Hi, just wondered if anyone could have a look at the following picture.

I'm leaning towards over extrusion? Or possibly uneven bed? Print is PLA at 210, bed at 65 extruder flow rate at 97% in cura. I've tried levelling the bed as best I can but it appears the bed (not the glass) is warped slightly. I'm not sure if this is due to the screw holes for the carriage being tight causing it to pinch but I'll look into it.

If anyone else can give any advice it would be appreciated.

Regards,

Rob

Re: 1st layer problems

Hi Rob

Yes, that's over-extrusion of the first layer, usually caused by the nozzle being too close to the bed.

Firstly, ensure that the frame is not twisted and that all 4 feet are firmly touching the table.

Loosen the 4 locking nuts directly under the heater PCB to allow the screws to move slightly. Put the bed on the chassis and heat the bed. Tighten the screws.

The heater PCB will generally be slightly high in the centre. The glass will also not be perfectly flat and may also be high in the centre. Ensure that the high point on the glass is on the bottom; this will help offset the high point of the PCB.

If the bed is still high in the middle, then put some blue tape under the front ant rear edges of the glass as in the photo here: http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/prusa-i3-kit-building-calibrating-first-print-main-f6/y-axis-shift-t557.html#p4043
