Re: Wrong size of printig objects

Peter

With firmware as it is, you cannot print with a first layer of less than 0.23mm. Any attempt to do so would fail. There is a way to change this, but first, get the bed sorted.

I have already put up a few instructions regarding the glass being higher in the middle than at the edges; here is what you need to do:

Remove the glass and loosen the 4 lock nuts underneath the corners of the heated bed by 1 turn.
Heat the bed to 60 degrees with the heater installed on the chassis.
Tighten the nuts (careful not to burn yourself) - you may need to push down in the centre of the bed whilst doing this.

Clip the glass in place, heat and with the edge of a steel ruler, see if it is still high in the middle.
If it is high, remove the glass, clean it and turn it upside down.
Clip down the glass, heat again and test for level

If it is still higher in the middle then do the following:

Determine which side of the glass gives the best level and mark what will be the undersige.
With some masking tape or blue painters tape, put a strip of tape on the underside of the front and rear edges of the glass.
Clip down the glass, heat again and test. The glass should now be as level as it can be...

Re: Wrong size of printig objects

Hello Peter,
i will do it after work in th evening today.

In attachments you see my settings from Slic3r.
I use the section "Prusa i3 0,2 Layer"
With this settings yesterday i got a very good print with correct sizes.
If you have any improvements, please mark the keys in this section and change the value.
In the evening i will prepare the bed according to your tips.

Re: Wrong size of printig objects

Hi Peter

I don't have Slic3r installed on my PC and I have never used it, so looking at the parameters is a little difficult.

However I had a quick look ad it looks OK. Personally I would reduce the infill and set it to straight. There is no need for 20% with most objects. Have a look here:

Ok,

Slic3r is my favorit.
KisSlicer works fine, with german translation but the settings to much and very compressed for a beginner like me.
Cura is simple also with german translation, but it has not enough settings for a good print.
Slic3r is only in english but exactly right for me. I hope the german translation comes later in future.
I have some problems to translate the technical specialist expressions. (But i try to learn it)

I've watched the video, ok it's right i will go down with the infill %.

I tell you my results from bed-calibration in the evening.
Thank you for your patience.

Hi Peter

You are totally right about the slicers. KISS is brilliant when you understand the settings and what they do.

Re: Wrong size of printig objects

Hey Peter,

i think the bed is flat now.
Some problems (short-circuit) between the washer and the bed i can fix it with a selfmade isolation washer.
Simultaneously I improved the calibration screws and make me bearing holders for y-axis.
So i don't need no more zippies. Now the y-axis Motor and the bed is 7mm higher, but now it's simple to
calibrate the printer.

Look at the fotos in attachment.

At the weekend i have no time for the printer, because i have the order from my wife to build a corner seat for the kitchen.
Maybe in the evening i have time for my new hobby.

Have a nice weekend
Peter

Hey Peter

The old folks here in Slovenia have kitchen seats just like that. Enjoy the build.

Your bed solution is much the same as my clone; problem is the height loss. But as long as you are happy with the end result, that's great. Happy printing...

Hello Peter,

now the prints are OK.
But i have another question.
Where can i get some spare parts like Stepmotors, Mainbord... in future.

On prusa3d. come i can find only Filaments and nozzles.
some other things like Bed, Glass and Exrtuder are out of order.

Re: Wrong size of printig objects

Hi Peter

It's very unlikely that you will require stepper motors; they are very reliable and are only used at well less than 50% of their ratings.

The shop at Prusa usually has stocks of the RAMBo, but this is another item that is unlikely to go wrong. It is also available from Ultimaker.

The Extruder and parts are available from E3D.

You are most likely to require things such as PTFE tubing, fans and bearings and nozzles. Fans and bearings can be bought from eBay. Tubing and nozzles can also be bought there, but I prefer to get them from E3D.

The belts are another item that may wear out over time, so having a spare is worthwhile.

Hi Peter,

i ask you because i need more Filament and i will order it now from Prusa.
So i look at the webshop at some spare sparts for my printer.
My Printer has no problem but i perhaps in future. Today it is not important.
I see one Steel Nozzle. Is it so much better as the normal?
In the next minutes i order the Filament and i think about it, because the shipping is very expensive. (22€ or more)

Re: Wrong size of printig objects

Hi Peter

The steel nozzle is for certain harder filaments (carbon fibre and possibly bronze/brass/copperfill). The regular brass nozzle is fine for standard PLA/ABS etc.

I agree the shipping costs are somewhat pricey, but there is nothing stopping you sourcing from a good quality filament supplier closer to you so you don't have to pay the high shipping costs.

Where are you located?

I'm from Germany. My home town is Ingolstadt.
You know it, think about AUDI.

I have no problem with the shipping costs but its better cheaper for me to order more at once.

Peter

So why are you on the forum when there's a good football game being played at the moment???

I think in this instance you need to buy the filament you need and then over the next few days, research the spares. I tend to get most things a few items at a time from eBay, and have now built up quite a stock of spares.

Re: Wrong size of printig objects

As long as you are not responsible for the recent VW fuel consumption issues...

Love the football... And I am also a software developer who enjoys all type of engineering.

I am a partner is a small software publisher based in Wembley.

I recently found a small local filament manufacturer. He supplies excellent quality filament at €19 a roll (plus VAT) and only €4.50 delivery for 5 Kg.

Fortunately, I also have a company here in Slovenia which has purchased the printers etc, so I don't have the pay the VAT...

P.S. 2-2 with 10 minutes left to play... Can see this match going either way.

No i'm not responsible, but it's a great problem also for my company. (We also must pay for this unbelievable thing)
More accurate I can not tell you. It's unbelievable for me.

Now i have enough filament for a longer time.
Your lokal manufacturer does not ship to Germany?

Hello Peter,

do you now something about Auto Bed Leveling with a inductive Sensor.
In the Foto you see my modified bed. It's no glass rather an 2,5mm Alu plate and an 0,8mm Carbon plate. (21.5 x 21,5mm)
The Alu-Bed is fixed on the bed. The Carbon i can change. (I have 2).
The heating performance is well.
The electrical connections are now under the heating bed.
It' fantastic, now i can print without Glue, Brim and Raft.

The next to do and learn for me is the Auto-Leveling Thema.
I see a Video with a Prusa Plus Printer on Youtube. ( )
If you have some manuals ore other helps it would be helpful for me

Peter
