What is a good use for Slic3r custom G-code 'Before Layer Change'

What is a good use for custom G-code 'Before/After' Layer Change feature?

- Question:
How would I make the mk2 beep if the Z value is between .5 and 1.0

I don't know if there is a way to do a conditional beep, but, a simple solution is to use the before layer change setting to add a comment line, then open the Gcode file in your text editor, look for your comment lines and insert the beep where appropriate.

Well the thing is that Slic3r is not only used by people owning the "original" printers...

Custom GCode at layer change and tool change can be used to trigger events within a post-processor or some printers may need to home X and Y at a layer change.

Most slicers have this facility, so it must be used by some people out there.

When you look at KISS, there will be 8 sections for printer custom GCode and one section for material custom GCode, including the ability to build your own (multi-line) custom tokens.
