Trouble Slicing Small Part
Hi,
I'm new to the 3D printing hobby and a happy new owner of a MK2S.
I have successfully printed the logo and little Marvin from the Prusa SD card.
I have successfully downloaded, sliced and printed the "Prusa i3 MK2 Spool Holder
by cyberreefguru" from Thingiverse.
I wish to create some simple small prints to explore the MK2S capabilities using a 0.4mm nozzle.
I created (in Autodesk Fusion 360) a 1.5cm x 1cm x 0.4cm tile.
I can't get Slic3r to slice it!

did you save it as a .stl file? if so could you post it here so we can try it out?

Hi Eric,
I tried to attached an stl file and get a message "Invalid file extension"
I'll look around tomorrow and see how to get it done.

Well, first thing you need to do is to make it wider so that is can be sliced.
With a 0.4mm nozzle, you will usually be printing a line width greater than 0.4mm (0.42 to 0.5mm). As you model is less than this value, you will not be able to slice/print it without using "detect thin walls" or similar. Or you could re-orient the model so that it is 0.4mm tall. Even then, it will not print properly - it's too small.

Hi Peter,
My reference is the first colour layer in the Prusa logo piece.
It is 2cm wide and 9 cm long and less than 2mm thick - and prints fine.
I am trying to print the 2cm width and the first 1cm length and twice the thickness.
My observation when printing the logo and looking at the finished part is that there are dozens of print passes per cm.
I'll have a bit closer look at the slicing settings on the weekend.

Reflecting on this.
Any of the letters in the Prusa Logo is bigger than the piece I am trying to slice.
If I could slice the "P" for instance (16mm x 14mm), I could slice the parts I have in mind.

The STL you posted is 2mm tall (Z), 1mm wide (X) and 0.4mm thick (Y). In that orientation it is not really sliceable and certainly not printable as a single model.

So I have an issue saving the STL from Fusion 360.
Unit of measure is definitely set to CM in 360.
At least I now know where to start looking.
It will have to wait until the weekend - busy few days ahead.

Set it in mm. is just easier than cm's

Just did that - set measures in 360 to mm.
Worked a treat!
Printed my parts with the 0.4 nozzle using the 0.05 fine settings.
