Speed from 40mm/s to 80: Safe on MK2?
Hello,
I was watching this video about changing the slic3R for the MK2 to go from 40mm/s to 80mm/s:
TLDR;
Permiters-> from 40 to 80
Small P. -> from 40 to 60
External -> from 40 to 80
Infill -> from 50 to 80
top -> from 40 to 80
Any thoughts if this is okay or is there any risk of having a nozzle jam using PLA with the .25mm DRAFT profile?

💡 80mm/s shouldn't be a problem with the mk2 (with the genuine e3d v6 full hotend), even in "silent mode".
➡ if you'll really want to crank it up to the limits, beyond 100mm/s i would recommend "high power" mode.
but take in account, that print speed and accelleration settings need to go hand in hand.

You also need to bare in mind the USB/serial communication rate.
If you are trying to print quickly with many short lines (eg an arc) that are within the jerk values (ie no slowdown on direction change) then you may experience buffer underruns (or stuttering printing).
I only print fast on simple models with long straight edges.

The maximum speed achieved is limited by the acceleration limits, which are provided to the firmware by the Slic3r. So if you really want to see the print head moving fast, you have to crank up the acceleration values as well. In that case you may need to bump up the extruder temperature a bit, as the filament will have less time to heat up.

To account for other variables like acceleration would it suffice just to leave the above settings at 80mm/s and when the print job starts just use the LCD menu to increase the speed up to 120%?
This would get me close to 100mm/s, correct?

No. The speed override only influences the maximum speed, not the maximum acceleration.

Look at the linked post from Jeff regarding acceleration values Also the maximum melt volume for the V6 is about 11mm^3/sec (but at increased temps, of course). That is about 4.5mm filament feed/sec or at 0.25mm layer height and 0.5mm width, 88mm/sec.
