[SOLVED] Extruder temperature decrease after the first layer

Hi everybody,
I'm new on the forum. I got this problem with my new Prusa i3 1.75 with newest firmware: i set the temperature for the first layer at 220 and for the other at 215 using slic3r. The printer start to work normally but after the first layer the temperature decrease at 190 / 195 . I'm not able to understand why this. If I try to increase the temperature manually from the lcd it doesn't go up.
Anyone can help me?

Thanks in advance.

Massimo.

Re: Extruder temperature decrease after the first layer

Hi, what Slic3r you use? Does it work with the default settings from the driver package?

Thanks for your answer.

I'm using slic3r 1.2.9 with the official settings downloaded from the site.

I try again to insert the configuration bundle in slic3r , printing a 15*15*1 mm square with normal pla setting. After the first layer at 210 the temperature decrease at 206 the second layer and at 202 the other.

Re: Extruder temperature decrease after the first layer

Preheat the ozzle for the temps you want, then try turning on the fan from LCD menu at 210 and let me know if the temp will go down.

I've tried to reduce the fan speed during the print and the temperature is more stable but I have to change it every layer, no way to solve this?

Re: Extruder temperature decrease after the first layer

Can you post a screenshot of the slicer filament settings you use?
Also check if the hotend power connector is properly secured in the motherboard and the cables are properly screwed inside the connector housing.

Good morning Josef,
attached the printer settings as you ask me.
They are the default from last 1.6 package.

Bye,
Massimo.

Re: Extruder temperature decrease after the first layer

Can I ask for the cause of the problem? In case someone else had the same issue?

Re: Extruder temperature decrease after the first layer

I don't know the cause of the problem, I've asked you for it. Till the cause comes out I've solved removing from slicer filament settings the flag on "keep fan always on" and reducing the min & man fan speed at 50% & 75%. This way the temperature goes from 220 to 210 so is perfect for me.
I hope someone find the origin of the problem.

Massimo.

Re: Extruder temperature decrease after the first layer

Can you check if the blower fan duct isnt damaged? If its broken it could direct airflow directly at the heater block.

Thanks Josef for your reply. I've checked the blower fan duct and it's ok. I understand what you mean but ... isn't it the cause of the problem.
