Small ABS Parts

Anyone have recommendations for smaller parts with ABS? Since there is no cooling, the previous layer doesnt have enough time to cool and it begins to sag or dimple. I began using the fan on low for layers that were pretty short and it seems to work ok.

Anyone else have their solutions/tips?

Re: Small ABS Parts

You can indeed add a little bit of fan to it, or print multipple of those small prints at the same time if you need them.
There is also a setting by the way to slow down your printer if layer print time is below x seconds, you can try some things with that setting also.

I always print something else at the same time for small parts. Or you can just print a small column (between 5 and 10mm diameter) next to your part.

Re: Small ABS Parts

you can enforce min layer time, which forces a delay before the next layer starts giving enough time to cool the first layer down.
print slower gives the layer a little more time to harden and avoid the melted look as the nozzle drags the layer along when too hot and twists it.
