Slicing issue!

Hello!

I have done a can holder to my fathers Harley on tinkercad and im not able to slice it properly on prusa slic3r!

Put some flames on the side of the can holder and parts of those seems to be left hanging in the air without supports, here is a link to my design https://tinkercad.com/things/g8jY3cOjxpi If i look att the layers from 41,40 and up there seems to be a part of the flame that does not get any support generated and i dont know how to fix this except turning the model upside down but this will generate lots of suppors for the bottom of my can holder and the part that will attach to the bike.

So i just wonder if someone with some more experience than me could take a look.

Im printing with The Mk2 i got for Christmas so im new to this.

Thx Kimmo

Re: Slicing issue!

It's not just the flames, but the stars need supports as well.

For me, I think I would round to inside bottom and print upside down, probably without supports first time, to see how it turned out. But then the attachment part will also need reversing. and the lettering is standing out too far.

Might even be better to cut it in half vertically and join it after printing.

Actually, looking again, you also have the screw hole needing supports. I think you possibly have to print it as is and set supports to 50 or 60 degrees. You will need to be patient when removing the supports though; there will be lots of them.

One more option (if you can wait a while) is to print it solid with MM upgrade (not yet available).

Thx Peter for taking a look at my design!

I tried slicing using supports and it was then i noticed when i was going thru the layers that a part of the flame did not get any support
so i turned the model upside down but then there will be too much support for the bottom of the holder and i dont think it will work.

I will try to slice once more and see if i can set the support to 50-60 degrees as you suggested, never done that before so i will try.

About the letters standing out too much, i also think you are right about that, going back to tinkercad first and try to fix it before i make some new
tries with slicer.

Maybe someday when i have enough cash i will buy S3d, then i would be able to put support where i want but 150$ is very much to pay for slicing software.

Re: Slicing issue!

Well, you don't need to pay for a decent slicer. There are a few out there that do an excellent job. Have a look at Craftware is you think you need user-defined supports (as it happens, I don't think you do; I think you just need to learn to use the slicer - and please don't take that the wrong way...).
