Simplify3D 1st layer height setting

I'm using fw 3.0.7 and in slic3r there is a "first layer height" setting which is .15. Layer height is .2. How do you set the first layer height in Simplify3D? I am using the rc4 fff profile and see primary layer height is set to .2 and:
First Layer Settings:
height: 100%
width: 95%
speed: 60%

A 100% height doesn't seem to match the .15 setting in slic3r. How can you specify a .15 first layer height in Simplify3D?

Change the first layer height to 75% (75% of 0.2 is 0.15)

That does make sense but the rc4 fff profile comes directly from Prusa so why wouldn't they set it to the correct value? I must be misunderstanding something obvious.

Re: Simplify3D 1st layer height setting

Question: Why would you want to set the first layer height to 0.15mm when printing the remaining layers at 0.2mm?

If you want to have the first layer height different from the rest, would you not usually print the first layer higher?

Different slicers do thing differently, it could just be that the best setting for Simplify3D is to make the first layer height 0.2mm for all profiles. There isn't a definitive correct setting, but what ever works best for you. (of course there are completely wrong settings, so I wouldn't recommend going too far away from profiles!)

I use a Stratasys Fortus at work, and I'd love to be able to tweak the settings as much as you can in Simplify3D and Slic3r etc. I'm getting as good a results from my Mk2 as I am from our ridiculously expensive Fortus.

OK, this is my misunderstanding then. I thought there was a change to the 3.0.7 fw to change the initial layer height from .2 to .15 Therefore I thought I needed to change the slicer setting for initial layer to match the initial height in the fw, .15. Layer 2 and higher would be set to .2 (normal), .35 (fast), .1 (detail) or .05 (detail).

Re: Simplify3D 1st layer height setting

Minimum first layer height was 0.2mm in 3.0.6; it is now 0.15mm.

You can print with a first layer setting of 0.15mm or above now, that is all.

Ah I see. So if I chose to do .1 layer height I would need to change it to 150% for first layer to get to that .15 minimum first layer height. makes sense, thanks!

I wonder why for .2 layer height slic3r settings from Prusa have .15 for first layer height but in Simplify3D first layer height is 100%. I wonder if that was done by design or is an oversight. Since Simplify3D has an additional first layer width setting of 95% I guess this was done by design.
