Setting Changes for Steel Nozzles

I exchanged my brass nozzle for for a hardened steel one. Does anyone have suggestions on any print settings I should adjust due to the different nozzle? PLA? PET?

There should be no changes required assuming the nozzle diameter is the same.

The only thing I have done with mine is to give it an extra minute or two to reach the set temp as the steel doesn't seem to heat up quite as fast.

Hi George. You shouldn't have to change most settings but you may find some differences. The hardened steel nozzle will have some differences in time to temp and maintaining temp. nothing too drastic. In most cases you won't have to do to much. You may have to tweak temp and extrusion multiplier just like you would with any new spool of filament to get the most out of it.

If you are having quality issues, you can do a PID tune to adjust for nozzle characteristics. Going from brass to steel may benefit from a 5-10C bump in printing temps. Other than that, I routinely switch between nozzle types. Of course, a change in nozzle size requires some tweaks.
