Replacement parts

I would like to print a set of replacement parts but cannot find recommended settings for them. Shells, infill, layer size, etc.

Re: Replacement parts

Hi Richard

I just used standard settings - 0.2mm layer with 16% infill

Good question!

Also ABS or PLA? I'm guessing ABS since that is what the replacement parts are made of in the PR shop.

Re: Replacement parts

ABS for the extruder parts, but I have printed some in PLA.

Re: Replacement parts

Basically everything can be printed in PLA if you don't live in extremely hot country. Just don't leave the printer in a car on direct sunlight.

Re: Replacement parts

I'm in the country which is having 37-41 C most of the time at noon. Can the PLA survive? Or should I use XT series filaments? I'm about to shop for more filaments. My printer survive in 40 hrs plus printing and it has been giving good results to me. I was so worried the electronics will burn cause the heat from the nozzle head was heating the entire room 🙂

You should be OK. PLA will start to soften around 50 to 55 degrees. Up to you if you want to try other materials, but I would advise getting used to the printer with PLA first as it is the easiest material to print with.

Re: Replacement parts

Hehehe I will try to print some parts and test it outdoor to see 🙂 if it survives I don't really have to worry about it.

I don't know if you have seen this map of "original" users: https://fusiontables.googleusercontent.com/fusiontables/embedviz?q=select+col0+from+1mmZsdWsLpnRsGl1o_GFIMfxdVrIoBNW00b2x1Kdo&viz=MAP&h=false&lat=39.466227628871614&lng=-44.19143881875003&t=1&z=2&l=col0&y=2&tmplt=2&hml=GEOCODABLE

It does show quite a few people around the equator...

Re: Replacement parts

I have everything printed in PLA with the exception of the extruder cover and body. Is the cover and body ok to print with PLA?

Thanks
Eric
