Random layer separation

When I try to print tall items(10cm+) randomly a few layers will separate towards the top of the print. They are not doing this at the bottom. I also notice that the right carriage drifts down. How do I fix this?

Re: Random layer separation

Is this the same sort of separation I'm experiencing?

For me, it's always an entire layer regardless of print size, not always in the exact same spot, and I'm using PLA. I don't have any answers, just hoping to give more info in the hopes that there's someone who can help.

No, it is like halfway through a layer.

Hi MikeOshay, that looks like under extrusion, which may be due to the filament not un-spooling evenly,

perhaps the filament has been previously allowed to come loose and the loops have overlapped each other.

perhaps something is catching on the spool preventing easy rolling... maybe a silica gell pack inside the hub...

hope this helps, regards Joan
