PLA - printing multiple objects and one with bad and rough surface finish

Hi,

running the MK3S printer since a total time over 100 days and since a couple of weeks it starts to do sertain sections with a really bad surface finish. It is not the top surface - its between somewhere.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated

sorry missing information:

MK3S with standard nozzle (as delivered)

layer height 0,2-0,25mm

standard temperatures bed 60 and nozzle 215  for PLA

Is the nozzle worn with rubbing along the material all the time?

If part of your plate is printing out fine then its not nozzle damage.  If it was then all the parts would have the same roughness.

Would you mind zipping up and posting one of your projects where this happens (save project as which saves it as a 3mf, that will contain all your project settings as well as the model(s)).  That way we can open it and see exactly what was used.

Ok, I think I've solved your problem.  You have 5 models on the print bed. Visually you only have 4.   You seem to have 2 of the same part occupying the same space.  So for your bad 'one' its printing the lines twice.  (instances 2-3 overlap).

Check your other project too as that likely is the same problem.

perfect - You are right - copy paste and I had 5 object and recognized them as 4.

Thank you so much

Good catch. I actually had that happen to me and was trying to recall what the problem was!

@bobstro @neophyl

Is there a way to add identical parts to a project? Copy/Paste? Import? Add instance?

@neophyl - good catch.

Add instance is the usual way.  As you can add modifiers to the original and they appear on the new instances too. Although clicking arrange once you have added new instances is a good idea just to make sure you don’t have any on top of each other lol.

You folks continue to impress me. That extra objects was a good catch. Mentally filed!
