PLA is the strongest!
In my pursuit to get strong 3D printed objects on my newly bought MK2S I've tried PETG (from Prus) ABS (from Prusa) and PRO1 from Innofil3D (seem to be plain simple PLA and doesn't seem to be worth the extra money).
But contrary to anything I read, the PLA that came with the printer take for more force to break than any of the above filaments, even the ABS!
I'm rather disappointed that the PETG and especially ABS doesn't perform better.
I assume the UV and temperature properties of PETG and ABS are better, but the mechanical strength is not by my experience.
It seem I'm the only coming to that conclusion 🙄
Or is the PLA I got from Prusa extraordinary good quality and the PETG and especially the ABS pure?
What is your experience?
Re: PLA is the strongest!
What type of part is this that you are testing the strength with?
Re: PLA is the strongest!
I printed with PLA and PTEG from Prusa and PTEG is far better in terms of twisting the part and preaking it along the print lines. PETG is rock solid if printed right.
