Nozzle Cooling Down First

My i3 MK2S was built just a few days ago. I'm trying to do a few first prints to get in the swing of things. Calibration is all okay. Printed the PRUSA logo file and it came out beautifully.

I've designed a couple of really simple things (open box, etc.) and sliced the files on Slic3r.

Here's the weird thing that's happening: before going to print, it starts bringing the nozzle temperature DOWN, going to 50 degrees. Once it hits 50, it will then start to print while the temperature is trying to climb back up to 205. It does this for the few files I've sliced. I've tried it preheated and not preheated, doesn't seem to make a difference.

Since the PRUSA logo printed so nicely, I have to think I'm doing something wrong in the Slic3r, but I can't for the life of me see any setting that might be causing that. I'm setting the layer depth and nozzle/bed temperature as normal.

Any thoughts?

This is very strange, but I do have a suggestion on the place to look.

Under Printer Settings -> Custom G-code is where all the G-Code lives that it does at the start of the print. You should look at that and see if something is amiss.

If you can't figure it out, at least post here what your start G-code says, and we can look at it.

Thanks Aaron.

I've looked at the Custom G-code. Nothing seems really amiss to me, but I don't really know what I'm looking at.

I've attached a screenshot.

Interesting.

It looks like you have not loaded the PRUSA presets for Slic3r.

http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/software-f13/slic3r-install-questions-settings-file-not-install-t4665.html

Once you load them, you should have a printer type called Original Prusa i3 MK2 that will have MUCH better settings. And better filament settings, etc.

Re: Nozzle Cooling Down First

Thanks. I tried to follow the instructions on that page. The drivers that I got out of the ZIP file (prusa3d_fw_3_0_12.zip) only contain .hex files.
http://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/#_ga=2.57027626.1628175919.1503252139-955477995.1503252139

On the "Select configuration to load:" window in Slic3r, it only accepts .ini files. I doubt it, but is it just a matter of changing the file extension?

Do I have the wrong version of Slic3r somehow? I thought I had downloaded and installed from the same page (link above).

You should be getting the Slic3r from here, under "Drivers"":
http://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/

Version 1.8.0 (pick the correct platform).

Thanks again Aaron.

I re-downloaded and reinstalled. Evidently I had download some other version of Slic3r before because this one is definitely the "Slic3r Prusa Edition". Looks like the right one. Should I still reload the config bundle into this new installation?

As soon as I get my filament problem ( http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5650 ) fixed I'll try again with a design re-sliced with the proper Slic3r installation.

Cheers!

Re: Nozzle Cooling Down First

UPDATE: After installing the Prusa Version of Slic3r (the proper version), the sliced gcode files have printed just fine. I think the odd cooling down behavior must have been related to the other version of Slic3r that had been installed.

Thanks!
