Noob question about nozzle and wall print width
Hello everyone,
I'm completely new to 3d printing, and currently wainting for my prusa kit.
While i'm waiting i'm modeling a little. I want to make stuff that have thin walls, between 1mm and 2mm mostly.
I was wondering what the printing width of a 0.4 nozzle is exactly? Is it just 0.4mm, or can it spread a little wider, like 0.45 or 0.5?
Does the material overlap itself?
If i design a 1,1mm wall, do i have two 0.4 and a gap, or an infill?
Does it help if i design every wall accordingly, using multiples of the most adequate mesure (0.4mm?) ?
Thanx per advance for your responses.

These are valid questions. You will find some answers here:

The link above applies to Slic3r only. Other slicers calculate with a rectangular extrusion, while Slic3r works with a rounded extrusion model, which is closer to reality. The way Slic3r calculates extrusions is very useful for the upcoming variable layer height feature. Stay tuned.

Thanx a lot! That's exactly what i was looking for. I'll study this and do my maths.
