No auto-level bed/nozzle wipe before print
Hello,
My i3 MK2 works great printing the files that came on the SD card, and has done well printing out parts that I've designed in Fusion360 and sliced in Prusa's Slic3r before. However, on this new part that I've made the printer won't perform the nine-point auto level feature or the nozzle wipe before starting the print, like it does for the ones included on the card and some others that I've done. It's like I've accidentally deselected some option in Slic3r and can't figure out what it is.
I'm pretty much keeping the presets in Slic3r vanilla, only making changes to supports. When printing the things I've modeled before, I just open them in Slic3r, use the presets for the material and make small adjustments to supports and infill where needed, download it to the SD card, and print. The printer auto-levels the bed, does the nozzle wipe, and begins, leaving me to Live Adjust Z and speed, and from there everything usually goes pretty well.
Now, on this model, it warms up and just goes full-bore. I tried Live Adjust Z during this process, but it's inconsistent and I've had to cancel the print. If it could only Auto-Level/wipe the nozzle before it started, I'd be golden. Any ideas?
EDIT: Solved, see post below.
Re: No auto-level bed/nozzle wipe before print
In Slic3r > Printer Settings > Custom G-code > Start G-code have you got something that looks like this:
M115 U3.0.12 ; tell printer latest fw version
M83 ; extruder relative mode
M104 S[first_layer_temperature] ; set extruder temp
M140 S[first_layer_bed_temperature] ; set bed temp
M190 S[first_layer_bed_temperature] ; wait for bed temp
M109 S[first_layer_temperature] ; wait for extruder temp
G28 W ; home all without mesh bed level
G80 ; mesh bed leveling
G1 Y-3.0 F1000.0 ; go outside pritn area
G1 X60.0 E9.0 F1000.0 ; intro line
G1 X100.0 E12.5 F1000.0 ; intro line
I'm guessing the G80 line is missing and that's why your mesh bed levelling isn't happening
Re: No auto-level bed/nozzle wipe before print
I thought that as well, but the G80 line is there. I rebooted the printer and resliced using a different preset (0.20mm NORMAL instead of 0.15mm OPTIMAL), reloaded it on the SD and now it works fine. Weird, as the G28 and G80 lines are present in both NORMAL and OPTIMAL presets. Sometimes, between Fusion360, Slic3r, and my printer, I just get strange glitches that seem to go away if I reboot the printer or the computer. Thanks for your help!
