Re: KISSlicer 1.6 Beta

Will try just for curiosity. Could you share a working settings for MM as a startpoint?

Yeah. See attached.

That is what I am currently using, but still working on things.

Without the post-processor, you can only print single filament. Currently the post-processor does not properly handle the preload, and it does not handle variable height at all, but it does work. If you want the post-processor, let me know.

Hi PJR.
I'll give it a try, I had good results with the previous version thanks to your help. Do you have a setting for the MK2 single extruder ? (I'm still waiting for my MM order, it should be delivered in september).
Thank you.

Apologies; I dragged the wrong file... Now corrected.

For the single filament printer, you will need to take one of the MM versions and copy that to a new printer, reduce the number of extruders and change the purge line in the start GCode section.

Also in the start GCode, there are three printer specific lines.

M301 - extruder PID (remove or change this line)
M304 - bed PID (remove or change this line)
G80 - bed level correction ((remove the additional parameters)

The purge lines of:

G1 Y-3 Z0.250 F7200.000
G1 X50.0 E75.0 F1000.0
G1 X160.0 E10.0 F1000.0
G1 X220.0 E6 F1000.0
G1 X240.0 E2 F1000.0
G1 Y-1.
G1 X40 E15 F1000
G1 X0 E2 F1000.0
G1 E-4 F4800
G92 E0.0

need to be changed to this:

G1 Y-3 Z0.250 F7200.000
G1 X160.0 E5.0 F300.0
G1 E-4 F4800
G92 E0.0

Or something similar.

Re: KISSlicer 1.6 Beta

Peter,

I just tested out the latest 1.6RC. I really like KISSlicer and it has indeed a lot of features other slicers lack. Although the UI is a bit more confusing, the settings you posted helped a lot.
My latest test prints I made with Slic3r suffer from a very big seam. With KS it's much better, but still not perfect. I know that it is very hard to hide the seam completely, but I would like to know what results I can expect when fine tuning the KS settings. I tested it with the Tuning Part you posted in the KS forum.

May you provide a picture of the Tuning part (I assume you have a lot of them lying around) where we can see the seam (or can not see because it's hidden)?

Thanks again for all your help and dedication.

Manu

You are correct in that I have many tuning parts laying around, but they are all quite old not and not representative of the seams I have on models.

My current worst case is slight roughness. This is the back of a 75 Micron Nefertiti print using a 45 degree jitter at the rear:

On this model, the seam cannot be seen or felt in the lower section, there is very slight roughness in the upper area.

The best seams are achieved with lower layer heights and the KISS seam hiding method works very well.

Re: KISSlicer 1.6 Beta

Thanks for your quick response.
Currently I am doing my tests with 300 microns. I will check how the seam is with lower values and play around with the seam hiding options

Thanks again for your help. I'm starting to like KISS 🙂

Well, it took me a while too. But once you learn how to use it, and realise everything it can do, it becomes very easy to generate decent prints.

Re: KISSlicer 1.6 Beta

I'm kind of feeling stupid but how the hell do I move multiple parts indiviually on the brint bed?!

This is one of the few things you can't do. And honestly, I have never had the need to do it. The auto-arrange works quite well.

Re: KISSlicer 1.6 Beta

Peter

That's true, yes. But for example I wanted to put two of the Tuning parts next to each other instead of in a row. And wanted to increase the distance between them like in this picture: http://www.kisslicertalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1902&start=80#p5177

Can I somehow configure/change this? Especially for the wizards I think it would be helpful to have little more distance between the parts... But to be honest I never used the wizards with the auto-arranged parts. Maybe I should give it a try and see if it bothers me.

Hope you don't mind two more questions:
1. Are all the values I enter/change immediately saved? There is no save button or visual feedback when values are saved. How do you handle it when you just want to test a changed value? Create a copy of the settings to play around with?
1. When I enter the values for the wizard I just need to slice and print the model, right? Will these values be added to the gcode automatically? And finding out the best value is visual judgment on the model?

Sorry for all these questions, but I am a little hooked on KISS 😳

1. Yes, and yes, copy a profile is one way of doing it.
1. Yes. Yes. and Yes.

See attached for destring tuning...

BTW, you can increase gaps between objects using a large skirt on the first layer.
